Bloomers & slips – Avidloves

I have only recently discovered how much I love bloomers. I know it’s a weird thing for a 29 year old woman to enjoy wearing in 2016, but I know I’m not ‘normal’, so I’m ok with that!

Bloomers are extremely comfortable to wear and can be worn very easily over the majority of my underwear, including suspender belts, stockings, corsets, and some of my shorter girdles, or just knickers.

As I generally wear skirts with hems that reach below my knees, bloomers are never visible.

I have tried bloomers from a couple of places, such as Hips and Curves (which I love by the way) but have recently been on the lookout for other brands selling this style of knickers. So, I was very surprised to find a pair on Avidlove.com. Avidlove doesn’t sell the style of underwear that I would usually wear, but they had some bloomers which were very reasonably priced at $14.99. They are available in cream, black and white. I chose a black pair, as I already own a white pair of Edwardian inspired bloomers.

The Avidlove Bloomers are made of a satin fabric, with lace trimming around the legs. I bought them in a size XL which fits really well. I expect to get a lot of wear out of these!

While I was buying the bloomers, I also decided to pick up a long slip in cream. I don’t know about you, but I really struggle to find slips that are long enough for vintage style dresses and skirts. Everything seems to stop above or on the knees. This slip comes down to my mid-calves, which is perfect for me. The design is the same as the bloomers, with the satin fabric and lace trimmings. This slip was also $14.99 and I bought it in an XL too.

I find it interesting how vintage style underwear pops up in the most unlikely of places, so make sure you don’t dismiss shops that don’t straight away match your aesthetic!

  1. I’m a big fan of bloomers, too. And as for long slips – I found some great ones in the “nightwear” departments of several stores (stocked there because of their length, I suppose).
